Backstage News On AEW’s Internal Reaction To Darby Allin’s World Title Reign

AEW star Darby Allin won the AEW World Championship from MJF on the April 15th episode of Dynamite. He held the title until Double Or Nothing 2026, when he lost it back to MJF. During his reign, which lasted just over five weeks, Allin successfully defended the championship eight times.

According to Fightful Select, there were some skeptics within AEW when Allin's title reign began. However, many of these individuals have since admitted to the publication that they changed their minds and praised Allin for his efforts in making his title reign special. Unsurprisingly, Allin's in-ring performances during this period received significant praise from within the company.

The report also stated that sources indicated MJF had supported the idea of Allin holding the World Title for "quite a while," which contradicts the online speculation that MJF was upset about how he lost the title.

During his reign, Allin defended the championship against several opponents, including Tommaso Ciampa, Brody King, Kevin Knight, PAC, Sammy Guevara, Mike Bailey, and finally MJF at Double Or Nothing.
