AEW is bringing an Anarchy in the Arena match to this year's Double or Nothing PPV scheduled for later in May and according to a backstage report, it could make history. The match is set to go down with Swerve Strickland, Kenny Omega and The Opps teaming up to take on certain members of The Death Riders and The Elite.
Sean Ross Sapp of fightfulselect.com reported that AEW sources within the company indicated that we should expect to see the following wrestlers in the match: Strickland, Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, Kenny Omega, and Willow Nightingale on one side and the Young Bucks, AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, NJPW's Gabe Kidd, and Marina Shafir on the other. If true, that would make Nightingale and Shafir the first women to ever wrestle in such a match; if the match serves as the main event, it would also make the two the first women to main event an AEW PPV in the promotion's history.
The report added that Speedball Mike Bailey vs. Kazuchika Okada is set for a Continental Championship match, so while their direct inclusion into Anarchy in the Arena is unlikely, there is still a possibility that one or both could make cameos later in the evening during the bout.
Katuyori Shibata and Claudio Castagnoli could be two wrestlers added to the match on their respective sides and while Hook and Wheeler Yuta weren't noted by the source as being in the match, they could also be involved if available.
