WWE star and pro wrestling veteran "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles made an appearance at last Sunday’s TNA Slammiversary 2025 event to congratulate Leon Slater on becoming the youngest X-Division Champion in the company’s history, following his victory over Moose.
According to Sports Illustrated, multiple sources within TNA reported that Styles’ appearance was met with a universally positive reception backstage. The report also mentioned that cameras were following Styles during the event, but it remains unclear whether the footage was being filmed by WWE or TNA, or how it will be utilized.
Although Styles did not become involved in any ongoing storylines, sources from both TNA and WWE indicated that his creative plans may have shifted throughout the evening. Some reports suggested that Styles was expected to participate in a segment with Frankie Kazarian, but those plans were altered before the event began. Carlos Silva confirmed that the plan for Styles changed “a few times” leading up to the show, but the original intention was to celebrate his history with the X-Division.
TNA sources also speculated that WWE may have been cautious about committing to a future match for Styles in TNA Wrestling since it might have been something they couldn’t guarantee. There is currently no information on whether Styles will make another appearance for TNA, but updates will be provided as they become available.
