Backstage News On Chelsea Green vs. Zelina Unplanned Finish On WWE Smackdown

Last week on WWE Smackdown, Chelsea Green and Zelina Vega went one-on-one in a match that ended up with Vega getting the victory via count-out in a finish that as it turns out, wasn't the way the match was intended to end.

Originally reported by pwinsiderelite.com and since corroborated by multiple other sources, the planned finish was still for Vega to win but the match itself was supposed to last a few minutes longer however, miscommunication led to Green being counted out. The report added that the belief backstage is that Green legitimately did not hear the referee count to ten as she was busy playing up to the audience and when the ref did get to the end of his count, Green didn't make it back in, leaving the official no choice but being forced to call for the bell as it was on live television.

One person believed that perhaps Green felt that when Vega was tossed back into the ring, the ref would refresh his count and start all over again so thinking she had more time, began working the audience and announcers and either wasn't listening to the referee or simply couldn't hear him. It was stressed that the finish was the result of a legitimate miscommunication and the end result wasn't affected as the story ended up where it needed to be for the six-woman tag team match announced for WrestleMania weekend. There was said to be no heat on any of the performers and officials chalked it up to "one of those things that happen" when WWE is airing live.
