In late December 2025, it was reported that Clark Connors' contract with NJPW was expected to expire at the end of January 2026, and he was exploring options outside of the U.S.
According to Fightful Select, Connors is anticipated to sign with AEW soon, with an offer already on the table that is expected to be finalized shortly. The report also indicated that sources within AEW believe Connors' imminent signing suggests an increased interest in David Finlay, who is also approaching free agency. It was noted that Finlay's contract will expire soon, and he is considering opportunities outside of NJPW, particularly in the U.S.
This follows reports from January that WWE was interested in bringing Finlay into their company while NJPW was keen on retaining him. Connors made an appearance on AEW Collision, where he faced Darby Allin in a singles match. Although Connors performed well, he ultimately lost; however, after the match, he assisted Gabe Kidd in attacking Allin. Additionally, Bryan Alvarez mentioned during a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Live that Connors is already signed with AEW.
