Backstage News on Claudio Castagnoli's AEW Debut at Forbidden Door

-- Last night at Forbidden Door, Claudio Castagnoli - the former Cesaro in WWE - made his debut for AEW. Fightfulselect.com reports that while it's unclear whether the two sides have officially many any agreement official, the two sides had been negotiating a "long term" contract. Furthermore, the promotion had been preparing for his debut by printing merchandise and promotion material in advance of his appearance. At Forbidden Door, Claudio was also not hidden and was seen backstage throughout the night.

-- Claudio left WWE in February, deciding to depart after not coming to terms on a new contract with the company. As such, he didn't have a no-compete clause in effect, but chose to stay low after his departure with some believing that he would be back with WWE later this year. Obviously if the long-term contract referenced above is accurate, that won't be happening anytime soon.
