-- The night after WrestleMania 40 where he became World Heavyweight Champion, Damian Priest announced on WWE Raw that he had signed a new contract with the company. Fightfulselect.com is reporting that while Priest did in fact sign a new deal, the agreement was finalized and completed a couple of months ago.
-- The report adds that the deal "came down to the wire" as Priest's original WWE contract was set to expire in February and was only days from running out before the two sides were able to work out a new agreement. Despite the last minute nature of putting pen to paper, WWE sources maintained that they never considered letting Priest walk away and the two parties had had plenty of discussions before finally agreeing on the terms. While specifics are not known, Priest has signed a multi-year contract and is expected to be with WWE for many years to come.
-- In an interesting note, Priest also has full control over his new theme song, which the report added has gone over "exceptionally well" within WWE.
