Backstage News On FTR’s AEW Contract Status And WWE's Interest

According to BodySlam.net, FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) are nearing the option year of their contract with AEW after signing new deals with the company in April 2023. The report states that FTR's 2023 AEW contracts were for four years, meaning they are now approaching that option year. Sources indicate that FTR believes their value and consistency in recent years should position them among the highest-paid talents in the company.

Additionally, the report mentions that there has been “preliminary interest” from WWE, communicated to the team through mutual contacts. However, it is important to clarify that there is no indication that FTR is considering leaving AEW; WWE has simply shown interest in them.

FTR are three-time AEW World Tag Team Champions, having lost their titles to Adam Copeland and Christian Cage at AEW Double or Nothing 2026 last Sunday night. In May 2023, Wheeler mentioned that the duo would likely be “probably done” as full-time performers after their current deal expires. It remains unclear if that mindset has changed.
