Backstage News On Gable Steveson's Release From WWE

-- In what is being pegged as one of the biggest disappointments in history, WWE released Gable Steveson from his contract earlier this month after a lacklustre two-and-a-half year run where he never made it onto either of the main rosters despite much expectations.

-- The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the early backstage word is that Steveson was released because he simply wasn't adapting to pro wrestling as well as everyone hoped. While athletically gifted and a top level physical talent, Steveson lacked pro wrestling charisma and was struggling to connect with crowds in the few times he did wrestle. In recent times, Steveson was brought to work dark matches before Smackdown where he worked with Cameron Grimes and Cedric Alexander while being tested out as both a heel and a babyface.

-- The Observer added that his older brother Bobby (Damon Kemp), Jacob & Drew Kasper (The Creed Brothers) and Bronson Rechsteiner (Bron Breakker) ultimately all ended up being believed to be stronger prospects in wrestling than Steveson, specifically in terms of making a successful transition from sports to WWE.
