Backstage News On Ireland Potentially Hosting A Future WWE WrestleMania

Kilkenny councilor Maurice Shortall recently told the Irish Mirror that Ireland is “well placed” to present a “credible and competitive” bid to host a future WWE WrestleMania.

According to Fightful Select’s Corey Brennan, those close to the situation view this as a “long-term project” that could become a reality if the Irish government positions the country as a “global sporting hub.” The report noted that sources have dismissed concerns about potential protests from residents near Croke Park, which have occurred in the past. They pointed to successful NFL events held at the venue and the upcoming game between Manchester United and Leeds this August as examples of events that went smoothly.

In order for Ireland to secure the hosting rights for WWE’s Showcase of the Immortals, the relevant authorities would need to match the $6 million bid that Las Vegas submitted for WrestleMania 42. This requirement is considered a significant obstacle by some within the Irish wrestling community. Additionally, the lack of a roof at Croke Park raises concerns about the weather during the event.

Furthermore, if WrestleMania were to be held in Ireland, it could contribute an estimated €300 million to the country’s economy.
