The idea, according to the Observer Newsletter, was to get Owens going with Seth Rollins again as a "back-up plan" in case the contractual situation with Rey Mysterio goes south and Mysterio ends up not staying with the company. This way, Raw would have a "ready-made" program between Rollins and Owens and the storyline continues to be furthered with tonight's kickoff show match between KO and Rollins' ally, Murphy.
