Backstage News On Konosuke Takeshita Replacing Kazuchika Okada In The AEW World Title Match On This Wednesday's Dynamite

AEW International Champion and member of the Don Callis Family, "The Rainmaker" Kazuchika Okada, was originally scheduled to challenge AEW World Champion Darby Allin for his title on this Wednesday night’s episode of Dynamite.

However, at this past Saturday's AEW Fairway to Hell event, Don Callis announced that Okada had to return to Japan to attend to family matters, and as a result, he would not be able to challenge Allin for the AEW World Championship this Wednesday. Callis also stated that Konosuke Takeshita would step in to face Allin instead.

In the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez confirmed that Okada’s trip to Japan is not a storyline; he genuinely needed to return for family reasons. This was cited as the legitimate reason for the change in the match.

Okada is set to defend his AEW International Championship against Takeshita at Double or Nothing later this month, and as of now, that match remains unchanged. Meanwhile, Allin successfully defended his title at Fairway to Hell, defeating PAC in a No Count Out match. He will aim to continue his winning streak at the expense of Takeshita this Wednesday.
