As previously reported, top AEW star Kota Ibushi sustained an injury during his match against Josh Alexander on Collision, when he fell from the top rope to the floor and fractured his femur.
Dave Meltzer mentioned on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that Ibushi’s injury has disrupted some creative plans for the company. Originally, the intention was to build towards a tag team showdown between Mark Davis and Josh Alexander versus Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi. This is why Davis came out after the match to attack Ibushi, prompting Omega to make the save.
It was also noted in the report that Ibushi has undergone surgery. At this time, there is no update on how long he will be sidelined or what his creative plans will be upon his return.
