Sean Ross Sapp reported in the latest edition of Fightful Select Answers that AEW plans to return to international markets that have recently shown strong results while being selective about its future destinations. He noted that the United Kingdom and Mexico are top priorities for the company, as both locations were considered “huge successes.” This success has given AEW the confidence to integrate international events into their regular rotation rather than treating them as special occasions.
Sapp also mentioned that a standalone AEW event in Japan is not expected in the near future, especially without a co-promotion partnership with NJPW. This position remains unchanged, despite ongoing fan interest and speculation about a potential weekend event in Tokyo.
Furthermore, Sapp indicated that AEW's current strategy combines sold-out international shows with well-known U.S. venues. These venues include historic locations like the Hammerstein Ballroom, as well as newer options such as WNBA arenas. He personally expects that “at least one new country will host a TV event in 2026.”
