Backstage News on Recent WWE Cuts & Non-Compete Clauses in Effect

-- John Laurinaitis, who is the new head of Talent Relations for WWE, was responsible for telling the wrestlers who were recently cut that they were being let go. The reason he gave them was that it was for “budgetary reasons” and that talent would be paid through July 14, which means they all have 90-day non-compete clauses up until that point. That would mean they wouldn’t be allowed to work for any other wrestling promotions, but in the past, have let some released wrestlers work the independents. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that some of the wrestlers who were let go will be asking or looking to have those non-compete clauses waived as they want to get back on the market as soon as possible. It’s interesting to note that Andrade was successful in getting his 90-day non-compete removed which historically almost never happens with WWE.
