It was previously reported that WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair expressed anger over the termination of his apparel deal with Roots of Fight, which appears to have been influenced by an edict from WWE. Roots of Fight also features merchandise for other WWE Hall of Famers and alumni, including Bret Hart and Roddy Piper.
In a recent edition of the Fightful Select Answers Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp addressed a fan question about why Roots of Fight had to sever ties with Flair, especially when they still offer apparel for other wrestling figures, and whether Roots of Fight has a direct partnership with WWE.
Sapp explained that Flair is widely believed to still have a contract with AEW, which likely led to the discontinuation of his relationship with Roots of Fight. The specific terms of Flair’s AEW contract remain unknown.
Flair later retracted his initial outburst regarding the situation, stating that he understood the nature of the business. He admitted he was initially upset with those involved in ending the deal, but he came to realize that business must come first. Flair also mentioned that while one hopes for exceptions to be made, sometimes they simply cannot be accommodated.
