Kota Ibushi has made his return to AEW, and the company recently announced that he will wrestle on AEW TV for the first time since November 2023. He will face Trent Beretta in tonight's episode of Dynamite.
According to Fightful Select, this matchup between Ibushi and Beretta will mark the first time these two have ever met in singles competition. AEW sources indicated that Beretta is a suitable opponent for Ibushi's return, given his experience with both American television wrestling and the Japanese style that Ibushi is more accustomed to.
The report also notes that Beretta recently returned from a lengthy injury layoff last month, and this will be his first singles match since returning to the ring. His last singles match ended in a loss to Orange Cassidy at Double or Nothing 2024. Additionally, Fightful reports that Ibushi is in much better shape physically than he has been in a long time. The 43-year-old wrestler has been recovering from numerous injuries and has only competed sparingly over the past year.
Ibushi vs. Beretta will take place later tonight on AEW Dynamite, which will be held at the accesso ShoWare Center in Kent, Washington, starting at 8:00 PM EST. The show will also be simulcast on Max.
