Backstage News On When WWE Might Hold WrestleMania In Indianapolis

In 2024, WWE announced a partnership with the Indiana Sports Corporation to bring three of their major Premium Live Events (PLEs) to the state: WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, and SummerSlam. The company kicked off this partnership with the 2025 Royal Rumble at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Recently, Sean Ross Sapp discussed on Fightful Select Answers when WWE might hold WrestleMania in Indianapolis. According to Sapp, WrestleMania is unlikely to take place in Indianapolis until at least 2028, as WWE plans to return to Las Vegas for WrestleMania 42 later this year. WrestleMania 43 is scheduled for 2027 in Saudi Arabia, marking the first time the event will be held overseas. Sapp also mentioned that Indianapolis was given Wrestlepalooza last September, likely as a way to keep the city satisfied.

Sapp indicated that if SummerSlam 2027 were to occur in Indianapolis, WrestleMania might not take place there until 2029 at the earliest. He noted that WWE has made deals with major cities in the past, only to change course later. For example, WrestleMania 42 was originally slated to be held in New Orleans, Louisiana.

As it stands, WrestleMania has commitments to four different cities, with Sapp predicting that 2029 is the most likely year for Indianapolis to host the event. WWE has not yet announced specific dates for SummerSlam or WrestleMania in Indianapolis.
