Backstage News On Whether Brock Lesnar’s Match At WWE Clash In Italy Could Be His Last

As previously reported, Brock Lesnar appeared in a video on last Monday night’s episode of WWE RAW, addressing his recent “retirement.” Lesnar stated that he was beaten so badly by Oba Femi at WrestleMania 42 that he decided to retire. However, he then realized that going out like that didn’t sit well with him, so he announced his comeback, vowing to defeat Femi. He declared that Femi would be beaten by a “humbled, retired Beast.”

According to Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE's plan for most of the year involves Lesnar officially retiring at SummerSlam 2026, which is set to take place in his home state of Minnesota. Meltzer also mentioned that he “presumed” the match at Clash in Italy would be Lesnar’s “last match” until “his next last match,” referring to Lesnar’s retirement as a “pro wrestling retirement,” a term that wrestlers often come back from.

Bryan Alvarez raised a question about how WWE could promote Lesnar’s match at SummerSlam as a “retirement match” when Lesnar is already calling himself “retired.” Meltzer responded that they could still bill it as Lesnar’s “last match,” which he hasn’t had yet, and noted that WWE uses the term “retired” quite liberally. He added that while Lesnar is technically considered retired because of their usage of the term, he is clearly not retired since he is competing in the Sunday Premium Live Event (PLE).

Lesnar and Femi will face off once more at WWE Clash in Italy on Sunday, May 31st. This event will be held at the Inalpi Arena in Turin, Italy. It will air live on the ESPN App in the U.S. and on Netflix internationally, with the first hour available on ESPN.
