Backstage News On Why Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus Was Moved Off SummerSlam

-- The much speculated Becky Lynch vs Trish Stratus match that was likely for SummerSlam isn't happening anymore and fightfulselect.com has some details on why WWE decided to scrap this match for the premium live event.

-- WWE sources had initially noted that there was a "good reason" why the match was scrapped for SummerSlam and instead booked for TV in mid-August with rumors online believing that it had to do with an injury to one or both of the competitors. However, it appears that isn't the case at all as both Stratus and Lynch are healthy and fully cleared to compete at SummerSlam.

-- Instead the reason for WWE not moving forward for this match tomorrow is because the company is making a concerted effort to limit the number of matches and thus the run-time for premium live events moving forward. This has caused some matches - the Lynch vs. Stratus is one example - being moved elsewhere. WWE sources had also noted that if the match were to move ahead as originally planned for SummerSlam, it would have been "severely limited" by time so the decision was made to air it on Raw instead though there was some consideration given to having it at WWE Payback in September. For what it's worth, neither Lynch nor Stratus was said to be happy with the change as they were only told about it last week.
