PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson recently discussed the New Day's departure from WWE, noting that it reflects the changes in the company under TKO. He mentioned being informed of a "pretty majorly pushed talent" who was asked to take a 50% pay cut on Friday, just one day before the New Day exited. This talent allegedly agreed to the pay cut.
It is important to note that Johnson emphasized the information has not yet been confirmed. He highlighted the timing of being informed about the pay cut request, which coincided with Kingston and Woods' departure from the company, reportedly due to their refusal to accept a pay cut. Their exit has been described as a “mutual agreement” between the two and WWE.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful has also reported that “a number of people” were asked to take pay cuts, although it is unclear if the talent Johnson referred to was among them or if others were asked to take similar-sized cuts.
In total, 28 members of the WWE roster, including those from the main roster and NXT, have departed in recent weeks. Alongside the New Day, those who have left include Tonga Loa, JC Mateo, Aleister Black, Zelina Vega, Kairi Sane, all members of the Wyatt Family, the Motor City Machine Guns, Santos Escobar, Zoey Stark, Alba Fyre, Apollo Crews, Andre Chase, Dante Chen, Tyra Mae Steele, Tyriek Igwe, Tyson Dupont, Luca Crusifino, Malik Blade, Trill London, Sirena Linton, and Chris Island.
