WWE introduced Pat McAfee into the main event title picture with Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton last week and it erupted into a wave of negative reaction from fans, analysts and even other wrestlers. So much that WWE took notice and pivoted with some creative plans and according to a new report, continue to change course.
WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select reported today that WWE has "reworked" some of their creative plans for Friday's WWE Smackdown after the negative reaction to the McAfee angle. The report added that there was expected to be continued additional outside celebrity involvement, believed to be Jelly Roll, though it's unclear if those plans have now changed too. Either way, WWE has gone back to the "drawing board" to discuss where this storyline will go in the coming weeks.
The repot also noted that CM Punk's comments in his pipe bomb promo on Monday were a clear indication of the shift in plans as the entire situation becoming fluid as none of that was originally planned when McAfee was revealed as the mystery caller last Friday.
