Backstage News On WWE’s Dude Wipes Deal Potentially Paving The Way For More Talent Sponsorships

As previously reported, WWE recently announced a new sponsorship with Dude Wipes, designating the brand as the “official flushable wipe of WWE.” Dominik Mysterio, the WWE Intercontinental Champion and AAA Mega Champion, will prominently feature the brand on his ring gear during all his in-ring appearances on WWE programming.

According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dude Wipes first gained significant exposure as a sponsor in 2014, thanks to then-UFC fighter Tyron Woodley. The brand also signed a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles last year. The report suggests that this partnership may pave the way for other top WWE talent to secure sponsorships through the company, rather than individually. Until now, only one wrestler, Brock Lesnar, has had the opportunity to pursue his own sponsorship deal, which he had secured with Jimmy Johns during his time in the UFC. Vince McMahon has historically opposed sponsorships on ring gear or within the ring, but Lesnar successfully negotiated this deal into his contract.

Currently, WWE has not announced any other talent sponsorship deals in the same vein as Dude Wipes. Dave Meltzer indicated that it is unlikely that similar agreements will be established with other companies in the near future. He compared the situation to MMA, where the UFC's acceptance of sponsorships led to a flood of deals. However, many companies later found these sponsorships to be not cost-effective.

Mysterio debuted the brand integration during this week’s episode of WWE RAW, displaying branding from Dude Wipes on his bandana and T-shirt.
