Last night's WWE Monday Night Raw ended with an in-ring segment involving Roman Reigns and CM Punk where the two went at it once again in a tense confrontation as they build towards their WrestleMania 42.
The confrontation ended up with Reigns calling Punk old and then getting knocked down but according to BodySlam+, that is not how the segment was originally booked. Instead, sources within WWE noted that initially the plan was for Reigns to address Punk's comments about his father by bringing up with a "darker response" that would have referenced Punk's dog Larry, who died late last year.
The storyline between CM Punk and Roman Reigns has escalated in recent weeks when Punk mentioned Reigns' family and his late father. Many thought Reigns should retaliate by bringing in Punk's dog, Larry, and while it didn't come to fruition last night, it sounds like it was an exchange that was at least considered. The reason for the pivot to Reigns simply mocking Punk over his age isn't clear.
