As previously reported, The New Day is departing from WWE after Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods mutually agreed to part ways with the company. This decision came after WWE requested that they restructure their contracts for lower payouts, which they both declined to do.
According to Bryan Alvarez on a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Live, WWE is hoping to keep Woods on board under a deal similar to that of Tyler Breeze. In this arrangement, Woods would still receive payment for video game-related work. However, it is unclear whether Woods is interested in this type of setup or if he will accept the offer.
Alvarez mentioned that he is unsure about Woods' current thoughts but noted that there is a possibility he might accept the offer, meaning it is not a certainty that both members of The New Day will join AEW. Alvarez added that, while this outcome seems likely, WWE is making efforts to retain Woods for other projects.
Although Breeze was released from WWE as a wrestler in 2021, he later worked with the company as part of the WWE-owned UpUpDownDown channel, frequently appearing in streams with Woods for the MyGM Mode in the WWE 2K game series. The UpUpDownDown channel, which focuses on gaming content, was launched in 2015 and has since gained over 2.44 million subscribers. Woods has been a prominent figure on the channel for years, although it hasn't been updated with a new video in about two weeks.
