-- Long time WWE executive Kevin Dunn made a hasty departure from the company at the end of 2023 with reports suggesting that he decided to resign after the Endeavor takeover left him with much less autonomy that he had enjoyed under Vince McMahon. WWE wished Dunn well and moved quickly to hire who is effectively his replacement in Lee Fitting, sending out a press release to the media this week.
-- PWInsider.com is reporting that the external hire of Fitting has "absolutely made waves" within the company's production and TV divisions with some people less than thrilled that an "outsider" was brought to lead the department. Specifically, the report cites a possible fear that some current employees believed that Fitting would move to further bring in his "own people" at the expense of WWE employees who have been around for a long time.
-- Others are taking a more wait-and-see stance before worrying while another group of employees were disappointed that WWE didn't promote someone internally. Executive VP of Television Chris Kaiser was said to be someone who deserved consideration while Jason Robinson, the lighting and set Director was also mentioned as a good candidate. Ultimately, some weren't all that surprised that Fitting - a former executive at ESPN - was brought in given Mark Shapiro and Nick Khan's backgrounds in the sports industry.
