Backstage Reaction to WWE Trying to Gain Control of Wrestlers' Twitch Accounts

-- With news that WWE is not only asking talent to end any third party business associations but are now going to be taking over their Twitch and Cameo accounts, the backstage reaction to these developments has been mixed, with the general consensus being that more higher profile wrestlers are generally said to be indifferent towards the changes while those lower on down the roster are frustrated and often confused at what WWE's stance is.

-- PWInsider reports that much of the frustration from talent stems from the fact that they are going to be losing their independence after previously being encouraged to build their "own brand", notwithstanding the financial losses that they will now incur as WWE absorbs their account under the corporate umbrella. Others are upset at the mixed message from the company as they were initially told that they would have to stop using their WWE trademarked names in these endeavors but the company has back-tracked and now wants control of all accounts, even if the talent is using their real name. The report notes that the biggest common point of frustration is new verbiage that WWE intends to introduce into talent contracts making it mandatory to appear and stream on Twitch as another way to book them, similar to autograph signings and promotional appearances.

-- Fightful.com reports that while there have been rumors going around by WWE getting talent to sign an agreement highlighting their obligation to use Twitch, nobody has been "forced" to do so and those wrestlers that reached out on the condition of anonymity don't feel as if people will get fired over it. The general consensus backstage has been that most wrestlers are going to resist signing anything of that nature as an addendum to their existing deals.
