-- With this year’s SummerSlam almost surely headed for a stadium location, WWE is looking to have a strong main event and a celebrity guest to make it “stadium worthy”, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. In terms of the main event, Roman Reigns will be the centerpiece and the “leading rumor” is that he will face a returning John Cena for the Universal title. WWE has been in discussions with Cena for him to return on the 7/16 Smackdown in Houston and that has led to talks that a Reigns/Cena match is what the company is headed towards.
--The only other opponents for Reigns that would make this a headline match would be Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who likely would be saved for WrestleMania or Brock Lesnar in a natural storyline that would involve Paul Heyman. Two other candidates are Undertaker or Bill Goldberg but it would be a real stretch to see either of these matches materialize for SummerSlam.
