As previously reported, the 2025 AEW Full Gear pay-per-view event garnered approximately 140,000 buys, exceeding internal expectations and potentially achieving the company’s best numbers since All In.
According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the event's performance represents a significant victory for AEW, especially as the company shifts its pay-per-view model to HBO Max. The report noted that, despite challenges in tracking exact numbers due to HBO Max's lower pricing, Dave Meltzer indicated that early estimates show Full Gear generated the highest buy count of any AEW event streamed on HBO Max to date.
Meltzer also explained that the platform’s pricing structure complicates traditional metrics; however, it positions AEW for broader long-term visibility. He suggested that, as more fans discover AEW shows on Max, an increasing percentage of viewership is expected to transition to the streaming service. Full Gear's strong performance also highlights the promotion's momentum heading into the holiday season.
The event featured 13 matches, including the pre-show, and culminated in a main event where Samoa Joe defeated Hangman Page to become the new World Champion. More than 10,000 people attended the event at the Prudential Center.
