As previously reported, Hiromu Takahashi announced in February that he would be leaving NJPW, where he has spent his entire career since 2010. Similarly, EVIL departed from NJPW in January after spending most of his career there, aside from a year-long excursion to ROH in 2014.
According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, EVIL has been rumored to be heading to WWE since January, and there were speculations about Takahashi potentially joining WWE even before he publicly stated he was leaving NJPW. However, neither wrestler has confirmed their future plans at this time. It was reported earlier this week that EVIL is in talks with WWE and is interested in starting in NXT to help him adapt to the WWE style. He also wants to bring his established character to WWE.
In an interview with Tokyo Sports following his NJPW exit announcement, Takahashi stated that his goals have not changed, including his ambition to win the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. Dave Meltzer raised concerns that this focus on a potential return to NJPW might hinder Takahashi's chances of succeeding in WWE.
