Backstage Update On The Men’s And Women’s WarGames Teams For WWE Survivor Series

This past Monday night's episode of WWE RAW revealed the competitors for the Men’s WarGames Match. The match will feature World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, and “Main Event” Jey Uso against the team of Logan Paul and The Vision, which includes “The Tribal Thief” Bronson Reed and “The Unpredictable Badass” Bron Breakker.

In addition, the Women’s WarGames Match will showcase Alexa Bliss, “The Queen” Charlotte Flair, “The Genius of the Sky” IYO SKY, and “The Eradicator” Rhea Ripley competing against WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane), “The Irresistible Force” Nia Jax, and “The Boujee Bully” Lash Legend.

Dave Meltzer mentioned on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that Cody Rhodes was not originally planned to be part of the babyface team. He has now stepped in as a replacement for Jacob Fatu, who was initially set to compete but suffered an injury expected to sideline him until early next year. Reports from Fightful Select indicated that Fatu is dealing with a dental injury that will likely keep him out of action for at least a month.

Meltzer also noted that Roman Reigns was planned to be part of the babyface team but has not yet been officially confirmed for the WarGames Match. He predicted that Reigns and Brock Lesnar would likely appear on next week's WWE RAW at Madison Square Garden to confirm their participation in the Men's WarGames Match. As of now, there are four men on each team, while WarGames matches typically feature five-on-five competition. Meltzer suggested that Jimmy Uso would make the most sense as the fifth member for the babyface team, but it remains unclear who The Vision will add as their fifth member.

Regarding the Women’s WarGames Match, Meltzer stated that AJ Lee and Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch were scheduled to captain their respective teams. However, neither wrestler has been officially announced for the matchup yet. Meltzer indicated that both could still be added, but this would need to happen by next week, as the premium live event is approaching quickly. He speculated that there would likely be an angle arising from Lynch’s scheduled title defense against Maxxine Dupri on RAW next week to set up her participation in WarGames. Currently, eight women are confirmed to compete in the Women’s WarGames Match.

WWE Survivor Series: WarGames is set to take place on Saturday, November 29th, at Petco Park in San Diego, California. The event will air live on the ESPN App in the U.S. and on Netflix internationally.
