-- The situation with MVP’s muddled status with WWE is that he was initially brought in for the Royal Rumble and then the plan was to use him again the next night to put over Rey Mysterio before getting a tryout for a producer role. However, according to the Observer Newsletter, Paul Heyman had other ideas and wanted to use MVP as Bobby Lashley’s “mouthpiece for a title run” but WWE continued to use him as a producer and some casual announcing on Main Event as well. When WWE went through with their April cuts, MVP ended up being furloughed along with many of the company’s other producers - primarily because at this point, not many producers are even needed - but he was already established as Lashley’s manager. It was noted that similar to others, when the economic situation changes, it’s quite possible that he will be reinstated into the producer role again.
