As previously reported, there were rumors about backstage frustration in AEW concerning the Hurt Syndicate. It was said that MVP had an issue with Mike Bailey and refused to lose to Bailey’s team, JetSpeed. Additionally, the Hurt Syndicate reportedly turned down the opportunity to lose to FTR and suggested that younger teams, such as The Outrunners, Gates of Agony, Private Party, or the duo of Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland, be considered instead.
According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there was a plan at one point for FTR to win the tag team titles from the Hurt Syndicate at All In: Texas. However, that plan has since shifted to Forbidden Door. If FTR does secure the titles, they are expected to defend them against Adam Copeland and Christian at All Out. The report also mentioned that while the titles may still go to FTR, there could be a deal in place to create a finish that is not clean.
Meanwhile, the alliance between MJF and the Hurt Syndicate was originally intended to last longer, but it ended not due to a request from MVP, but rather from another member of the group.
