During the AEW Double or Nothing Buy-In pre-show this past Sunday, QT Marshall teamed up with Big Boom! A.J. and The Conglomeration (Mark Briscoe, Orange Cassidy, and Roderick Strong) to defeat Shane Taylor Promotions, which consisted of Anthony Ogogo, Carlie Bravo, Lee Moriarty, Shane Taylor, and Shawn Dean. However, it seems that Marshall sustained an injury during the match.
According to Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, the injury was caused by a spot involving water. During the match, water was thrown onto the ring ropes, leading Marshall to slip off. F4WOnline.com reported that after slipping, Marshall fell to the outside and grabbed his knee. He was later assisted to the backstage area by several people, and he appeared unable to put weight on his injured knee.
Following Double or Nothing, AEW President and CEO Tony Khan stated that Marshall was doing okay but did not provide further details. In response to Khan’s post-show comments, Meltzer noted that sometimes when Khan says an injury is not serious, it may imply otherwise. Alvarez then chimed in, mentioning that Marshall wouldn’t have to have his leg amputated, to which Meltzer responded, “Yeah, exactly!”
As of now, there are no additional details about the nature or severity of Marshall’s injury, but updates will be provided as they become available.
