As previously reported, Ridge Holland announced that WWE will not be renewing his contract when it expires on November 14th. This decision comes after Holland suffered a Lisfranc foot injury during a match with Moose at a TNA iMPACT taping last month, which required surgery. However, Holland mentioned that WWE will cover the costs of his rehabilitation.
According to Fightful Select, Holland's injury occurred while he was working on a TNA booking that was part of his contract. Had WWE not agreed to pay for his rehabilitation, Holland might have had grounds for a successful lawsuit against them. The report also noted that Holland’s contract was at the level of NXT stars because his main roster deal expired in November of last year. He accepted a one-year extension at approximately $200,000 less than his previous salary, and he was not receiving additional pay for participating in the TNA show.
The report states that every WWE talent who spoke with the publication expressed disappointment regarding Holland not being paid while he is injured. One male veteran on the roster commented that this situation would not have happened before the pandemic. They also highlighted that this issue is a "significant concern" for many members of the WWE roster.
