Backstage Update On Trey Miguel’s Release From AEW

As previously reported, The Rascalz—composed of Trey Miguel, Myron Reed, Zachary Wentz, and Dezmond Xavier—signed with AEW last week. However, one of the members' time in the company was short-lived, as fans did not get to see all four members compete together. Miguel was released from his contract before the group had the opportunity to appear together on Collision, leading to much speculation about the circumstances surrounding his departure. He subsequently announced that he would be taking a break from wrestling.

According to Bryan Alvarez on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, there haven't been many discussions about the situation, but some individuals have shared information. Alvarez mentioned that his understanding is that the issue originated from higher up in the AEW hierarchy, and he emphasized that it was not related to any AEW talent or even AEW President and CEO Tony Khan. Instead, it seems that decisions made above Khan led to Miguel's release.

Alvarez added that this isn't the first time AEW signings have been affected by decisions from "up above." A notable example is Jay Briscoe, who was barred from appearing on AEW television after controversial statements he made on social media came to light. It's reasonable to expect that more details about Miguel’s situation will emerge in the coming days.
