It appears the rumors of Rusev returning to WWE are indeed true and it was Big E who confirmed it.
Appearing at WWE World, Big E and former star Tyler Breeze were seen opening WWE trading cards. When they opened a Rusev 2017 edition card, Big E stated that the wrestler confirmed to him that he will be returning.
"Someone that has just been announced to return. You didn’t see that? I reached out to him, and he confirmed that the news is indeed true,” Big E said. “I don’t know when he’ll be back, but there is Rusev. A blast from the past. And actually this is very topical because he has just announced that he is returning to the squared circle here in World Wrestling Entertainment."
Rusev's return to WWE has rumored ever since he was given his release from AEW, where he wrestled as Miro. Since the release, Rusev has been spotted at WWE Headquarters filming material and it was also rumored that WWE was looking at bringing him back more towards the end of the year though that could be pushed up given the latest developments.
