One thing that is for certain in the pro wrestling business is you can "never say never."
Brian Gewirtz never forgot this.
The former WWE head writer and the Senior Vice President of Development for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's "Seven Bucks Productions" company recently appeared as a guest on Busted Open Radio for an interview and spoke about the possibility of being in charge of the pencil once again behind-the-scenes in WWE.
"It’s like working a muscle, a little bit,” Gewirtz explained when mentioning how he is confident he could still find a place in the modern pro wrestling landscape. “Your promo muscle, as a writer, in terms of getting into the swing of things again. Beause I’ve had, occasionally, some talent at WWE give me a call and say ‘Hey, what’s a good line I can say to this person?’ Not often, but every now and then."
Gewirtz continued on this topic, explaining how some WWE Superstars have contacted him and asked for a line or two to use in a promo on another wrestler, and how that has led to him writing out a ten-minute promo that he would send back to the talent.
"Then I start thinking about it and then that muscle starts working again," he continued. "Then all of a sudden I’ve written like a ten-minute promo and I’m sending it to the person.”
As far as whether or not Gewirtz would ever entertain the idea of returning to his former job as a writer in WWE, he noted that he doesn't envision it, but also doesn't rule it out.
“It never truly leaves my psyche or goes away," Gewirtz said. "I don’t ever really envision myself in that position as a job again but as they say in the wrestling business, ‘you never say never.'”
