Bruce Prichard Says Ahmed Johnson Could Have Been A Main Eventer

Bruce Prichard, who is a Senior Vice President and working as the Executive Director of SmackDown and RAW, recently took to his Something to Wrestle With podcast, where he talked about the possibility of Ahmed Johnson becoming a WWE main eventer. Prichard said Johnson was absolutely being positioned as a main eventer and he had all the charisma in the world and he even had the personality, but Ahmed just unfortunately didn’t have that feel and was dangerous in the ring.

Prichard said, “Absolutely.” “Ahmed was one of those guys that we looked at and said ‘This guy could be a WWE Champion at some point.’ He had all the charisma in the world, had the personality but unfortunately just didn’t have that feel and was dangerous in the ring.”

Prichard then talked about realizing they made a mistake with pushing Bret Hart as the top guy, which is why they tried to fix those mistakes with Shawn Michaels. Bruce Prichard also said that WWE relied too much on past ideas with Hulk Hogan for Bret Hart, but that it never fit Bret’s character.

Prichard said, “We realized we needed to do a little bit of a different approach with Shawn.” “Not to go the Hulk Hogan route because that had been done. I don’t want to say it was a failed experiment with Bret, but it didn’t always work with Bret and we realized we had to present Bret in a different way than Hulk because he was different than Hulk. That playbook, sometimes you go with what’s familiar and try to adapt, and we needed a new playbook.”
