According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Bushiroad has published its annual fiscal year report for its sports business, which includes New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) and STARDOM. The report indicated that revenue from NJPW and STARDOM totaled $43 million, a decline from last year's $44.8 million. Additionally, the profit decreased to $1.2 million, down from $3 million the previous year.
The report noted that while NJPW attendance did not drop over the past year, there were lower gate receipts and overall revenue. Both promotions lost talent during this period, with NJPW wrestlers moving to AEW and STARDOM wrestlers transferring to Marigold. However, attendance numbers improved from April to June, highlighted by a record STARDOM attendance of 7,503 at Yokohama Arena for the match between Saya Kamitani and Tam Nakano.
Business analysts for Bushiroad expressed optimism that the younger wrestlers are “growing” and anticipate that next year will see the emergence of bigger young stars. There is hope for improvements in the coming year, particularly with the expectation that Wrestle Kingdom will attract a large crowd for the retirement of Hiroshi Tanahashi and the debut of Aaron Wolf. It is also believed that attendance and revenue for STARDOM will increase in the next year.
