CM Punk is set to headline WrestleMania for the first time in his career, taking on Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins in the main event of WrestleMania 41 on Saturday, April 19.
Punk has long expressed his desire to headline WrestleMania, and he became emotional when Paul Heyman delivered the news that his dream was about to come true on WWE SmackDown.
In an interview with Sebastian Hackl of WWE Deutschland, Punk shared his excitement about securing a spot in the main event.
"I'm thrilled," he said. "WrestleMania is now a two-night event, giving even more fans the chance to experience the rarefied atmosphere of a main event. Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins are two guys I helped bring to the main roster years ago, so it's amazing to see how far they've come and how they've held it down at the top. It's going to be special for me to show them, kind of like, 'Daddy's back.' CM Punk is back. You're still here, and I'm still here," he added, gesturing to the different levels of success they've each achieved.
The Shield (Rollins, Reigns, and Jon Moxley, formerly known as Dean Ambrose) made their debut at WWE Survivor Series 2012 to assist Punk.
This will be Seth Rollins’ second time headlining a WrestleMania and the second consecutive year he has done so. Roman Reigns, on the other hand, will make his tenth appearance in a WrestleMania main event.
