CM Punk spoke with Jackie Redmond for a backstage interview at AllState Arena in Rosemont, Illinois following his explosive appearance on the second-to-last episode of WWE Monday Night Raw on the road to WrestleMania XL.
During the discussion, "The Best in the World" spoke about his return appearance, doing commentary at WrestleMania XL, Drew McIntyre, The Rock and more.
Featured below are some of the highlights from the interview where he touches on these topics with his thoughts.
On if his return in Chicago on this week's WWE Raw felt like he thought it would: "It did. I’m obviously injured. I’m not 100%, I’m not medically cleared, and if feel when I come here, and there’s 16,000-plus people, and you’re responsible for a lot of them being there, this place is sold-out, they’re hanging from the rafters. I feel such a responsibility to want to give them a show, and I can’t right now because I’ve paid the price of being a professional wrestler since I was 15. But I felt I gave them a little bit of that guy. I gave them that CM Punk that they know and love, that they want to see, that dangerous guy on the microphone."
On testing out his non-injured arm/hand for the pin fall during his segment on Raw: "You’d be surprised, with being in this brace for six to seven weeks. I do everything with this left hand. Everything, Cathy Kelley."
On The Rock being back in WWE and how they'll cross paths eventually: "I’m glad. I’m glad Rock’s back. It’s good to see that he knows his role, and he’s kept his mouth shut. Anything goes here in this new era of WWE. Me being back, I’m gonna cross paths with everybody sooner or later."
On Drew McIntyre and doing commentary at WrestleMania XL: "I think Drew would say that we have to figure out something for me to do to justify my bloated contract, but let’s face it, who’s the five-tool player in the WWE right now? It’s this guy. I’d like to maybe try my hand out as a referee, but honestly, I would not be able to be impartial with those two idiots. So maybe commentary is the best thing to do."
