Dave Meltzer mentioned on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that top WWE star CM Punk has a talent for bringing out the best in his opponents. Punk is known for being involved in intense feuds where the animosity often appears genuine. This is evident in his recent storylines with Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre, as many of these wrestlers have a legitimate dislike for him.
This is what Dave Meltzer said, “He always brings out the best in his opponents partially because a lot of his opponents truly don’t like him. It’s believable because it’s actually true. So it’s like that was the case with McIntyre to a degree and with Rollins probably as big a degree or more even though it’s all a work. It’s like there’s seeds of reality in the belief and everything like that and they magnify it obviously, but they magnify it very well.”
Punk's next high-profile match will take place this Saturday at WWE WrestlePalooza, where he will team up with his wife, AJ Lee, to face World Heavyweight Champion Seth "Freakin" Rollins and Women's Intercontinental Champion "The Man" Becky Lynch. This event will mark WWE's debut on ESPN.
