Latest Backstage Details On Sasha Banks, Naomi Walking Out At WWE Raw (Updated)

Details continue to surface regarding Sasha Banks and Naomi shockingly walking out on WWE at the Monday Night Raw show this week.

As noted, the WWE Women's Tag-Team Champions abruptly left WWE Raw at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia after learning of the company's plans for their involvement in story lines going forward.

Reports insist that the initial plans for the main event of this week's red brand television program called for a Six-Pack Challenge match to determine the number one contender and challenger to Bianca Belair in the Raw Women's Championship match at the upcoming WWE Hell In A Cell 2022 pay-per-view.

Multiple sources are reporting that the plan was for Naomi to emerge victorious and move on to challenge Belair for the title in a one-on-one showdown at the aforementioned PPV, which emanates from Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois on Sunday, June 5, 2022.

Apparently the working plan would see Naomi get her hand raised in the Six Pack Challenge on Raw, with her never getting physically involved against "The Boss" in the main event, which was also scheduled to include Becky Lynch, Asuka, Doudrop and Nikki A.S.H.

WWE noted that the "Boss 'N' Glow" duo walked out of the show after filming angles to establish the revised main event pitting Asuka one-on-one against Lynch to determine Belair's challenger at WWE Hell In A Cell 2022. Corey Graves even acknowledged the situation on the broadcast, noting on commentary that Team B.A.D. left in an "unprofessional" manner.

There are conflicting reports regarding when exactly the gold-holding duo exited the building, with some claiming that it was during the live television broadcast, while others insist the shocking walk-out came prior to the start of the weekly three-hour WWE on USA Network red brand program.

As noted, the statement released by WWE after Raw on Monday night alluded to Banks and Naomi being against the idea of working with two of the other four participants originally slated to work the initially proposed Six Pack Challenge No. 1 Contender bout.

The excerpt from the statement that WWE posted that referenced this part of the behind-the-scenes story read as follows:

“[Sasha Banks and Naomi] claimed they were uncomfortable in the ring with two of their opponents – even though they’d had matches with those individuals in the past with no consequence.”

According to a report from Fightful.com, the two wrestlers that Banks and Naomi had issues working in the match with were Asuka and Becky Lynch. Those close to the situation, however, claim otherwise, noting that the WWE Women's Tag-Team Champions were instead pushing to work with Doudrop and Nikki A.S.H. at the WWE HIAC PPV.

Talent backstage at WWE Raw on Monday night were reportedly not informed of the part of the story regarding the duo considering anyone to be "unsafe." Instead, talents learned of this detail when the official statement about the story from WWE was released after the show, with the company not only posting it on their website and social media channels, but also via the internal Talent Relations app.

As far as the Banks & Naomi vs. Doudrop & Nikki tag-team title tilt at the special premium event on 6/5 in Rosemont, Ill. being pitched by the champions, WWE reportedly turned the idea down, and instead suggesting an angle where they interfere in the originally proposed Naomi vs. Belair singles match for the Raw Women's title at HIAC.

For those curious, the key factor that led to the issue Banks and Naomi had with the situation centered around the fact that the plans pitched to them essentially meant that their tag-team title reign was going to be put on ice for a considerable amount of time.

As of this writing, there is no definitive word as to the planned direction for the WWE Women's Tag-Team Championship landscape, with reigning title-holders Banks and Naomi reportedly handing over the belts to WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis prior to walking out at WWE Raw on Monday night.
