"The Scottish Warrior" isn't going anywhere.
Not for a while, at least.
On Saturday, TKO Board member Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson surfaced on social media to share a video of Drew McIntyre at a meeting with WWE President Nick Khan that resulted in him signing a new contract with WWE.
The video shows "The Final Boss" making good on a promise he made McIntyre backstage at WrestleMania XL, where he claimed he would personally present him with a Scottish Claymore if he were to re-sign with the company.
For the past few months, there have been a number of reports regarding the ongoing negotiations between McIntyre and WWE, with it being pointed out each time that two had yet to come to terms, with his current contract expiration drawing closer and closer.
In February, a report surfaced via Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that noted McIntyre and WWE were finally working with the idea that he would be remaining with the company.
"Man of my word," The Rock wrote as the caption to the aforementioned Instagram video of McIntyre's meeting with Nick Khan. "As you’re a man of yours. Congratulations Drew McIntyre on signing your new WWE deal. As we talked about after your WrestleMania match, I know this Scottish Claymore represents everything that you, your family and your country embody."
The Rock continued, "Alba gu bràth. As you know, I wanted to personally hand deliver this gift to you at your meeting with Nick Kahn, but I had warm cheat meals and chilled tequila waiting for me. Congrats again brother and cheers to hunger, passion, climbing that mountain and always entertaining our fans."
Drew McIntyre is expected to have a prominent role at the upcoming WWE Clash At The Castle: Scotland premium live event in Glasgow on June 15, 2024.
