Drew McIntyre Says He Is Happy To Have Cody Rhodes Back In WWE: "It's Cool To See How Much He's Grown As A Performer"

WWE superstar and former world champion Drew McIntyre recently spoke with Cultaholic about the return of Cody Rhodes, and how happy he is to see the American Nightmare back in WWE, later commenting on how similar Cody's path was to his own. Highlights from the interview are below.

Says that he is very happy to have Cody back in WWE:

“Personally I’m happy to see him back, and there’s a few of us that have been around for a few years now that are excited to see Cody back just because we’re buddies with him and with his talent he adds to the show, 100%. And it’s cool to see how much he’s grown as a performer and as a person, much like myself. When I was gone from the company, I had to kinda go find who I was as a performer, kinda grow up as a man, and Cody’s done the exactly the same. And it’s cool. And I’d seen him before he came back and was aware of that. But it’s cool just to see him back in WWE.”

How he and Cody both built themselves up prior to their WWE return:

“And I knew even when he was outside the company, he still had that chip on his shoulder like I did, in the back of his mind, man when I was younger, this is what was supposed to happen, as far as we concerned. I don’t know how the company felt about it but we were supposed to be champion and we never did it. There’s always that in the back of your mind, you know, ‘What if? What could have been?’ I was lucky enough to come back, pull off the big win with the championship a couple of times, plan to get it again. I don’t have to say I know Cody feels the same, he literally did the promo where he said I’m back to win the title my dad never won. But I knew that was always something in the back of his mind because we both had very similar experiences with being young and kinda promised the world. But at the same time it kind of fell on us and we weren’t able to finish the job. And we had to go away to find ourselves to come back to then finish the job.”
