"The Mad King" was a no-show on Friday night.
Eddie Kingston was scheduled to appear at the House Of Glory: High Intensity event at the NYC Arena in Queens, New York on Friday evening, but for unknown reasons, the AEW star did not appear.
The no-show by the NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion was addressed during the show by Charles Mason, who was scheduled to defend his House Of Glory Crown Jewel Championship against "The Mad King."
"Now I came here for the self-proclaimed King," Mason began in a promo addressing the no-show by Kingston to the crowd. "I came for Eddie Kingston. But your Eddie Kingston is too much of a coward to show up in my city. Ever since he got a little contract, making a little money for once in his life, he changed on all of you!"
He would go on to say that if Kingston never comes back, he’s been holding down this company for 500 days and will continue to do so. He then informed the referee to ring the bell to start the match and count out Kingston. The referee began to count when Masha Slamovich came down to answer the call and challenge Mason for the title. The impromptu bout took place and saw Mason retain in a hard-fought battle.
House Of Glory did address the no-show of Kingston in a statement released via their official Instagram page on Friday night.
"BREAKING: Due to circumstances beyond our control, Eddie Kingston will not be appearing tonight," the announcement began. "We will do everything in our power to bring you the best possible wrestling experience tonight at High Intensity X."
