Eric Bischoff's Advice to AEW President Tony Khan: “Shut Up And Wrestle”

WWE Hall of Famer and former WCW President Eric Bischoff recently took to his "the 83 Weeks" Podcast, where he talked about the comments AEW President and CEO Tony Khan made against the WWE prior to this past Friday night's head-to-head between WWE SmackDown and AEW Rampage. WWE first announced that this past Friday night's SmackDown would be a Supersized edition, which means that the show will be a half hour longer, then WWE also announced that the last 30 minutes of SmackDown will be commercial-free.

AEW would respond by doing a one-hour Buy-In Pre-Show prior to Friday night's Rampage and also making the CM Punk vs. Matt Sydal Match commercial-free. Tony Khan would also talk trash against the WWE and note that he looked forward to beating WWE’s flagship show, SmackDown, how he has more money than the WWE and how WWE RAW last Monday night “sucked.”

According to Eric Bischoff, if he would give Tony Khan some advice, then that would be to shut up and wrestle and to just focus on AEW and put out the best product he can, which he has proven he can do.

Eric Bischoff said:

“If Tony [Khan] were to call me and ask for any advice, here’s what it would be — shut up and wrestle, dude.” “Just put out the best product you can and you’ve proven you can. Focus on that. Now this is weird coming from me, right? The guy who challenged Vince McMahon. The guy who gave away their finishes. But here’s the difference. I was actually competing with him. I was going head-to-head. Real head-to-head. Like, my show started the same time his show started each and every week.”

Eric Bischoff then addressed the comments made by Tony Khan that AEW is just like WCW was in 1996 and not making the same mistakes that WCW did. Bischoff said until AEW is actually competing every single week and not just inventing mistakes by constantly comparing themselves or deriding their competition but not having the willingness to actually compete against them in real head-to-head competition, and to see who can get those market shares, Khan should just “shut the f*** up” as in 1996 he was kicking WWE’s ass in a real head-to-head competition, not a cosplay competition.

Eric Bischoff said:

“And another thing, Tony comes out and says ‘We’re at the 1996 stage of WCW and going to not make their mistakes.’ Tony, you’re inventing some mistakes, brother.” “By coming out there and constantly comparing yourself or deriding your competition, but not having the willingness — I almost said balls — the willingness to say, ‘Okay, let’s go head-to-head. Let’s really compete. Let’s see who can get whose market share.’ That’s real competition. So, I’m a little disappointed in the rhetoric that I’m hearing out of Tony, as well as some of the talent. Man, shut the f*** up. Until you’re actually competing and you’re actually competing favorably — and by the way, Tony, in 1996 I was kicking WWE’s ass. Every week! In a real head-to-head competition, not a cosplay competition.”
