It was recently announced that next week's SmackDown, which is the post-WrestleMania Backlash episode of the show, will feature a Fatal 4-Way Match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship and the match will see Apollo Crews defend his title against Big E, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.
During last night's episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown, WWE Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews held a Nigerian Medal of Honor ceremony to reward Commander Azeez for the loyalty he has displayed as of late. The segment was first interrupted by Big E on the big screen, then Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens followed. The segment ended with a huge brawl between Commander Azeez and the other Superstars. Crews barged into the office of WWE officials Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville later in the show, but when the WWE Intercontinental Champion left the office, he was just as angry as when he went in as Adam Pearce announced the Fatal 4-Way Match for the WWE Intercontinental Title for next week.
Apollo Crews became the WWE Intercontinental Champion when he beat Big E at Night Two of WrestleMania 37 in a Nigerian Drum Fight, with the help of the debuting Commander Azeez.
