Former NWA Star Passes Away At The Age Of 66

Former NWA star and ex-AWA Southern Heavyweight Champion Rick Link has passed away at the age of 66, according to PWInsider.com. Link was well-known for his rivalry with WWE Hall of Famer Jerry "The King" Lawler in Memphis, and he also competed as M.E.B. in NWA Central States and as Man Mountain Link in the CWA.

This news follows the announcement last December 2022 by Link’s sister that he was entering hospice care. At that time, a GoFundMe campaign was launched to help cover his future funeral expenses.

Growing up as a fan of professional wrestling, Link began training at the age of 15 under Johnny Hunter. He made his wrestling debut in 1975 and worked for Hunter’s Eastern Wrestling Association, the IWA, and other promotions.

Link joined the NWA in 1979, where he had notable feuds, particularly with Lawler in Memphis. He also became involved in Lawler's famous feud with comedian Andy Kaufman. Link went into semi-retirement in 2010, with his last recorded match taking place at Revolution Wrestling Authority’s Unfinished Business event in May 2023.

On behalf of Rajah.com, we extend our condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Rick Link.
